19 killed in interior Sindh incidents

DADU: Over 19 people were killed in separate accidents in interior Sindh on Sunday. According to reports, labourers of a mining company were working in a coalmine in the mountains of Khanoot, district Jamshoro. They were searching for a proper spot to start digging for coal. Suddenly, a heavy mass of the cave s roof fell on them, killing four of them on the spot. They were identified as Naseem-ur-Rahman, Rahman Din, Wazir Khan and Meer Hasan. Ten other labourers fell unconscious.

The company stopped the work after the accident and managed to pull all labourers out of the mine, including the four bodies and the 10 who had fallen unconscious. In the other incident, four people were killed after a car, coming from Karachi and going to Pir Jhando, collided head-on with a trailer. Police said the accident took place at Loni Koot near Toll Plaza on the Super Highway. All of the four people in the car died on the spot. Two of them, Pir Sultan Shah and Pir Shaman Shah, were nephews of renowned writer Pir Hassamuddin Rashdi, while the two others were Hasan Shah and driver Rashid. It took long to pull the bodies out from the back side of the completely destroyed car.

In Khairpur, Muhammad Eidan Phulpoto was shot dead within the limits of the Tando Masti Police Station. Later, hundreds of people placed his body on the Khairpur Bypass and staged a demonstration against his killing.

Also, a speeding car overturned on the bypass. As a result, Abdur Rashid died on the spot, while Professor Chand Bibi, Batool and others sustained injuries. Meanwhile, a clash broke out between two groups of the Magsi tribe in Shahdadkot over irrigation water issue. Muhammad Sharif and his son, Rasheed Magsi, died in the incident.

The members of the Janwari tribe kidnapped a youth, identified as Younus Chandio, from the Kandhra village in Sukkur and killed him later. At village Jewaan Kolachi in Ghotki, an unidentified man gunned down a shepherd Anwar Ali Sawand and fled the scene. Later, the villagers blocked the Indus Highway and staged a protest against the killing.

Meanwhile, a coach collided with a trailer on the National Highway in Pano Aqil. As a result, trailer driver Muhammad Ashraf was killed. In Osta Muhammad Khan, unidentified assailants shot dead Mumtaz Umrani. Also, a clash broke out between two groups of the Marfani tribe at Garhi Yasin in Shikarpur. As a result, a woman was killed. She was identified as Satbhaie. In Thul, unidentified people strangled a woman, Farida, to death. Meanwhile, a tractor rammed into a house in Larkana. As a result, the roof of the house collapsed, leaving a woman, Jamal, dead on the spot.
