AT announces rallies against water shortage

HYDERABAD: The peasant chapter of the Awami Tehreek (AT) under the banner of the Sindhi Hari Tehreek announced here on Sunday to hold protest march against an acute water shortage in the province.
The announcement to this effect was made at a news conference addressed by office-bearers of the Peasant Movement at the Hyderabad Press Club. They said several protest marches would be organised from March 15 to March 24 and later a big demonstration would be staged outside the Karachi Press Club, the date of which would be announced later.
They said water shortage has affected the lives of millions of people of Sindh. They criticised the water distribution body -- IRSA -- and the Punjab for the shortage. They stated that the shortage of water was artificial and also slammed the present government for taking no concrete measures to avoid water shortage.
