ISLAMABAD: Former PPP senator Enver Baig has urged the Pakistani community in the US to boycott the costly lectures of Pervez Musharraf because he subverted Pakistan s Constitution twice.

The former senator was commenting on the ad campaign of Pervez Musharraf in the United States, asking people to purchase tickets to hear his address at The Westin Bellevue, Washington, on March 14.

Musharraf has never disclosed how much money he has made through these lectures but many in the US feel he is using these lectures as a facade to hide his millions. Most of the lectures in the US are normally without any fees except air travel and hotel charges.

Musharraf is responsible for all the ills Pakistan faced in the past nine years. He destroyed the basic fibre of Pakistan, Baig told The News after reading the ad. The publicity pamphlet, received through e-mail, and a visit to its sponsors, friendsofpakistanfirst.com site, said foreseeing any unseemly situation at the function that in an event of disorderly conduct by a participant, he/she will be escorted out of the function by security. We reserve the right to refuse entry to any participant.

It showed the VIP reception plus VIP front row seats will cost $1,000/person. This gets you entry to a pre-event private reception with selected people. You will get a chance to meet with Mr Pervez Musharraf in person. This also includes your first row VIP seats for the actual event. Limited seats, so please purchase at your earliest. Dinner included..., read the message. It added the VIP front row seats will cost $500/person. And general admission will be for $100/person.

The message read, President Pervez Musharraf occupied, what TIME Magazine described as the most dangerous job in the world , playing a crucial role in the global war on terror. President Musharraf has survived two assassination attempts; rooted out militants in his own government; helped direct countless raids against al-Qaeda ñ both in his cities and in the mountains; and tracked Osama bin Laden with technical and human intelligence. His astonishingly revealing memoir, In the Line of Fire, chronicles his struggles for the security and political future of his nation, with high stakes for the world at large. The event seems to be a way of collecting maximum money by a person, who fears to come back to Pakistan for the mere fact that many people waiting for him to settle scores with him for the wrongs he committed.
