HYDERABAD: A cell was inaugurated on Saturday at the District Account Office to facilitate pensioners.

Controller General of Accounts Masud Muzaffar, after opening the Pensioners Facilitation Cell, said pensions would now be finalised on the date the pensioner gets retired without any hassle and delay.

He said Pakistan was the first country in Asia where this system had been introduced. Similarly, after Karachi, Hyderabad was the second city in the country where the cell had been established, Muzaffar added. The controller said that executives of all departments had been directed to submit the list of anticipated retirees six months in advance for finalising their data.

Responding a question, he said the system would be extended to other parts of Sindh and other provinces. He said that henceforth the case of pension and GP Fund employees would be computerised. He announced that a Visa Card would be issued to pensioners.

Accountant General, Sindh, Eijaz Ali Pirzada, while briefing the controller, said that the accountant general was passing through the paradigm shift from traditional to advance information technology-based approach by creating professional capacity-building in accounts offices.
