ISLAMABAD  : At this stage when country is facing multiple problems, the political parties should play their role for resolving the problems and strengthening democracy, said Rehman Malik, Federal Minister for Interior here on Friday.  Shaheed Benazir Bhutto played important role to end horse trading in the country and gave a loud message that in future no one would break any political party, Malik said while talking to reporters outside the Parliament House.

He said that Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif have drafted and inked the Charter of Democracy (CoD) to end the politics of confrontation and leg pulling.  We have inherited a worst law and order situation, but owing to the positive steps being taken by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and its allies the situation is getting better now, Malik said in response to a question.

There are some problems in Balochistan, while the unrest was turned into complete peace in the rest of the country, Malik said. Malik urged the media to appreciate the good work of PPP led government being done during the last three years.  We must be given credit of the work like steering the country out of the economic and political crisis, he added.

Responding to a question, Interior Minister said that Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is an independent investigation agency and it can summon anyone during the process of investigation.  FIA is working independently and it was for the first time in the history of Pakistan when Prime Minister s son appeared before the FIA for investigation, Malik maintained. To another question Malik said that the government has implemented all the decisions given by the judiciary.  We respect the independent judiciary and all its judgements were implemented in true letter and spirit, he added.
