Gilani calls on Nawaz Sharif

LONDON : Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani called on PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif at the latter s Park Lane apartment here on Friday to inquire about his health and welfare. The PML-N leader has been convalescing following a minor heart operation last month. The Prime Minister himself is here capital on private visit in connection with the hospitalisation of his son, Haider Gilani.
Hasan Nawaz, son of Nawaz Sharif, received the Prime Minister at the apartment building overlooking Hyde Park. In a brief talk with the media persons, Gilani said that he had been in telephonic contact with Nawaz Sharif, and wished to visit him to inquire about his health since he is himself in London. The two leaders met for nearly half an hour and discussed political and economic situation in the country.
Pakistan High Commissioner to the UK Wajid Shamsul Hasan accompanied Prime Minister Gilani. In response to a question, he said the case of a private TV channel is before the court . so he could not comment, but added that Pemra has ended all draconian laws pertaining to press freedom, and the media are vibrant and thriving in Pakistan.
About young doctors strike, the Prime Minister said both governments, federal and provincial, were seized of the issue and were taking appropriate steps to resolve the matter. Nawaz, on his part, expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for visiting him. He said that his son, Hasan, had called on Gilani s son on Thursday and inquired about his health. The PML-N chief said he would be returning to Pakistan soon, and would have rather gone back much earlier had he not gone under this surgery. He conveyed thanks and gratitude to all those who prayed for his health and welfare.
