Malik orders formation of probe body

ISLAMABAD - The federal interior ministry has ordered for constitution of a joint investigation team headed by Additional Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad to probe into a hoax bomb call in FIA Lahore office and on the basis of which Zafar Ahmed Qureshi, investigation officer in NICL scam, was not allowed to enter the building.
The joint investigation team has been ordered on the directions of Interior Minister while DIG Police level officer from Punjab and representatives of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) would be its members, a spokesman of the ministry informed. The JIT will submit the report within one week.
A press release issued by the Interior Ministry says that Interior Minister Rehman Malik has taken serious notice of some of the news items appearing in various sections of media whereby the impression has been created from the threat alerts in FIA building Lahore that perhaps it was a fake or engineered threat. The official handout says that Malik has directed Secretary Interior to ensure that Qureshi should be fully facilitated in Lahore and Regional Director FIA Lahore would be asked to extend full support to Qureshi while implementing the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Rehman Malik has further directed Federal Secretary Interior to personally ensure that Zafar Qureshi faces no difficulty at all in discharge of his official duties as per the directions of the apex court.
