MANSEHRA: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers here on Sunday held responsible Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar, MNA and son-in-law of Mian Nawaz Sharif, for the defeat of the party in the recent National Assembly by-election in Mansehra.
A meeting of the party activists was held in Dodial to review the circumstances which led to the defeat of the party in the by-polls for NA-21 Mansehra. Aslam Khan, district president of the party, presided over the meeting.
Local leaders and party workers alleged that Muhammad Safdar met PML-Q leaders, who had deserted Nawaz Sharif in difficult times and sought their support for his brother Tahir Ali who was contesting the by-election on the PML-N ticket.
They said they would not allow Safdar to dictate the terms to the party workers. The participants felt Umber Faiz, the daughter of late PML-N MNA Faiz Muhammad Khan, would have won the by-polls had she been awarded the party ticket.
