ISLAMABAD: The Special Committee No 1 of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Thursday reviewed the appropriation accounts of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
The meeting, which was held with Zahid Hamid in chair, came to know that the local government ministry got an original grant of Rs 18.367
million during 1990-91 and the grant closed with an excess of Rs 922.677, which works out to 5.02 percent of the total grant.
It was also informed that an amount of Rs 1.19 million was surrendered, resulting into an excess of Rs 267,365.
The local government ministry explained that excess was mainly due to introduction of new allowances and increase in rates of conveyance.
The committee maintained it believes in the agenda of zero excess and zero saving, thus issuing instructions to the ministry for maintaining its accounts in future.
