Taliban claim responsibility for Swat bombing

PESHAWAR: The Maulana Fazlullah-led Swat Taliban have claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing in Mingora s busy Sohran Khan Chowk on Saturday and threatened more such attacks. Omar Hasan Ahrabi, the spokesman for Swat Taliban, told The News in a phone call from an unknown place that the bombing was part of their battle against security forces, law-enforcement and the government in Swat and the rest of Malakand Division. He insisted that only one Taliban militant was involved in Saturday s bombing. The military authorities in Swat had earlier claimed that four militants were involved in the attack, including one suicide bomber, who blew up and three others who were killed by the troops. The Taliban spokesman also accepted responsibility for the recent wave of target-killing of government supporters in Swat.
