KalSoft Wins Best E-Government Applications Award
|

KalSoft Pvt. Ltd has won the ‘Best Applications Award’ for excellence for its GIS (Geographic Information System) Mapping Solution Software – Public Map at this year’s PASHA ICT Awards. KalSoft was nominated in the e-government and services category of the PASHA ICT awards.
The award ceremony took place on Saturday 2nd October, 2004 at Pearl Continental Hotel Karachi and the Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Mr. Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari was its Chief Guest. |

The nominees of the awards included the software houses from all over the country. It is an honor for KalSoft that its award winning application Public Map - GIS has also been nominated for Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA), which will be held in December 2004 in Hong Kong.
The objective of the PASHA ICT Awards is to provide acknowledgement and recognition to softwares and service applications which are developed in Pakistan. The award is specially meant to distinct the creativity, innovation and excellence of the companies operating in the Information and Communication Technologies sector of Pakistan.

KalSoft & College of Physicians & Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) signs accord for MIS Development of Medical Research & Education

KalSoft (A project of Kalia Group and the leading Software House in Pakistan) and College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) have signed an accord for the development and implementation of MIS Software for Medical Research & Education at CPSP. The accord was signed by CTO KalSoft, Mr. Khurram H. Kalia and Secretary CPSP Prof. Irshad Waheed.
CPSP is in the process of developing integrated MIS software for all their respective departments.

The MIS is
expected to enhance the productivity of the
college by reducing its manual communication and
other redundant manual processes and procedures.
In addition to this, all departments will be able
to communicate with each other at a central point
and thus the duplication and incorrect information
will be minimized. |
The process of registration and examination will also be streamlined as there will be a centralized database acting as the central source of information storage and retrieval. The MIS Software is planned to be commissioned on 30th August 2005.

The Special Prison for Women Computer Institute, established at Special Prison for Women Hyderabad by the Ko-Ordination Group (KRG) was inaugurated by the Minister for Social Welfare and Women Development (Sindh) Dr. Saeeda Malik on Monday, 11th October 2004. The Chairman Ko-Ordination Group (KRG) Mr. Hanif S. Kalia presided over the inaugural ceremony. Special Prison for Women Computer Institute has been established by KRG with a
special objective to empower women prisoners with modern
IT education. |

Addressing at the event, the Chief Guest Dr. Saeeda Malik said that educational and technical training opportunities in jails would dispel the impression that prisons converted prisoners involved in minor offences into habitual criminals and furthermore, these women can be self employed, and employed any where after leaving the prison.

In the end, she appreciated the continuous efforts and commitments of Mr. Hanif S. Kalia for the growth and development of IT in the country.
The Chairman Ko-Ordination Group Mr. Hanif S Kalia in his presiding address said, “We have fulfilled our commitment within one and a half month with the establishment of this institute. The formation of this institute is a role model for other prisons of the

The Chief Justice Sindh High Court Mr. Syed Saeed Ashad inaugurated the Computer Institute at Sindh High Court Bar Association on Thursday, October 07, 2004. The Chairman Ko-Ordination Group Mr. Hanif S. Kalia presided the inaugural ceremony. The institute established by the Ko-Ordination Group (KRG) possesses state-of-the-art facilities and advanced systems for the members of Sindh High Court BAR Association and their families. |
Mr. Hanif S. Kalia presented the keys of the Institute to the Chief Justice and later on assisted him in the ribbon cutting ceremony for officially opening the institute.

All Pakistan Memon Federation holds a prize distribution programme |
With an objective to motivate, acknowledge and encourage the students who have passed their matriculation examinations with A-1 grades in general and Hifz-e-Quran in particular, a prize distribution programme was held by All Pakistan Memon Federation on Thursday, 7th October 2004 at Hussain Ibrahim Sports Complex Hussainabad, Karachi. The Provincial Minister for Population Welfare (Sindh) Mr. Syed Ali Bux Shah also known as ‘Papu Shah’ was the Chief Guest while Chairman Ko-Ordination Group – KRG Mr. Hanif S. Kalia presided over the event. The event was specially arranged to pay tribute to the Memon students on their remarkable achievements in academic career so that in future, they may not only uplift their names, but also make their parents, country and specially Memon community proud.

The Chief Guest Mr. Syed Ali Bux Shah admired the services of Memon community and congratulated the students on Hifz-e-Quran and attaining A-1 grades in their examinations. He acknowledged the achievements of Memon students and wished them all the best in futures as well. Later on, he distributed awards to a number of students on their achievements.
While addressing the audience, the Chairman Ko-Ordination Group Mr. Hanif S. Kalia highlighted the significance and valuable services of the Memon community for the country. |
He also stressed upon the media to stop propagating the misconceptions regarding Information Technology among youth and advised them to promote its importance among them.

Faizan Academy conducted a colorful Annual Prize Distribution Programme on Wednesday 06th October 2004 at MEB Lawn, F.B. Area, Karachi. The Chairman Ko-Ordination Group (KRG) Mr. Hanif S. Kalia graced the occasion with his kind presence as Chief Guest and Mr. Adam H. Mohammad presided over this event. Many awards were distributed among the teachers and students ranging from academic session 2001 till 2004, but the awards presented among parents were the distinguishing aspect of the event.
While addressing the audience, the Chief Guest emphasized upon the importance of extra curricular activities and highlighted its role in the development of confidence and will power among the children. He affirmed that the children of Faizan Academy are lucky as their Iqra educational system plus IT education is perfect for having an ideal generation in the future. He said that the professionalism of Faizan Academy depicts a very high standard through which, students will Inshallah succeed in their coming practical lives. The Chief Guest further reiterated to the girls to play their respective part in the growth & development of country’s economic and social setups. He stressed that girls must come up and enter the field of IT due to two reasons; firstly our country needs them as our human resources / man power includes 50% women and secondly, in an economy under high inflation risk just like ours, IT provides better job opportunities even being at home through the magnificent concept of “On line Jobs”. Speaking further on the issue, the Chief Guest presented the example of India where women work at home and earn an average $1,000/month. Mr. Kalia affirmed that our girls are not less competent than any other country girls and possess high qualities rather in some cases hold better credentials and higher potentials to do the same. In the end, Mr. Hanif S. Kalia applauded and congratulated all the students who were awarded prizes on their achievements.
The President of the event, Mr. Adam H. Mohammad congratulated the students on Hifz-e-Quran and attaining good marks. He acknowledged the education being provided by Faizan Academy and wished them all the best. He also applauded the continuing efforts of Mr. Hanif S. Kalia in promotion of IT and social welfare work at grass roots level of the country.
The programme was attended by a large number of audience which included prominent personalities and dignitaries of the city. |
